Seven members of the Aston Martin Formula 1 design team have been let go, following feedback from legendary designer Adrian Newey, who joined the team in March after his high-profile exit from Red Bull. The restructuring comes ahead of the 2026 season and is believed to be a result of Newey's evaluation of the team's processes and his feedback on improving efficiency and performance. This includes a recent complaint about the simulation tools, leading to the hiring of Giles Wood as simulation and vehicle modeling director. The changes also come as the team aims to challenge for race wins and titles in the coming years, with owner Lawrence Stroll emphasizing the importance of having the right people in place. The team's restructuring is a significant factor, alongside cost cap considerations, in the recent staff reshuffle. Aerodynamics director Eric Blandin, who joined from Mercedes three years ago, is among those leaving their roles. The team's spokesperson declined to comment on internal staff matters, but it is understood that all those who have left are in discussions with the parent company over taking up other roles within the wider Aston Martin group.
