Birdy Magazine and AbGradCon 2025: A Collaboration in Astrobiology
Editor's Note: Issue 138.5 of Birdy Magazine, available at https://www.birdymagazine.com/issue/138-5-birdy-x-abgradcon/, marks a special collaboration with the Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon) 2025. This edition is a testament to the challenges and triumphs of our journey, which began in June 2024. The theme, 'Dark Skies, Bright Futures,' reflects our resilience and the light we found in each other's efforts.
Birdy Magazine, Colorado's premier arts and culture magazine, has evolved from Deer Pile, a DIY, donation-based comedy space. Founded in 2013, Birdy is independent, artist-run, and woman-owned, offering a unique platform for local, national, and international artists, writers, and businesses. The magazine's monthly publication since 2014 has made it a high-end, collectible, and evergreen resource.
The collaboration with AbGradCon 2025 is a celebration of the community that helped us build something bright beneath a darkened sky. Instead of the conference schedule, this space honors the contributions of those who made it possible. Meet our team: an Explorers Club Fellow, a former NASA Space Station Payload manager and space biologist, a journalist, a lapsed climber, a synaesthete, and a Na'Vi-Jedi-Freman-Buddhist-mix. With diverse backgrounds, they bring unique perspectives to the magazine and conference.
