The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has taken decisive action against six traders, publishing details of 13 enforcement actions for breaches of consumer protection law. These actions, taken between August and November 2025, highlight the CCPC's commitment to ensuring fair practices in the marketplace. The traders, located in Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Monaghan, and Roscommon, were served with fixed payment notices or compliance notices for failing to display prices, as required by law. This includes four shops, one hotel bar/restaurant, and one jeweller. The CCPC's proactive approach to consumer protection is evident, with officers conducting inspections both in-store and online to detect breaches. Patrick Kenny, a member of the CCPC, emphasizes the importance of clear and accurate pricing information during the busy holiday season, stating that the CCPC will take action against any traders found breaking the law. The CCPC's goal is to empower the commission to impose meaningful fines directly for consumer law breaches, sending a strong message to businesses about the consequences of unfair practices.
