Jon Stewart Roasts Trump's MRI Denial and Ableist Slur (2025)

The controversy surrounding Donald Trump’s recent comments and actions continues to fuel public debate — and some of his claims are simply impossible to believe. But here's where it gets controversial: his attempts to dismiss concerns about his health and cognition are raising more questions than answers, and many experts and commentators are calling him out for outright deception.

Late-night comedy hosts have once again taken aim at Trump, criticizing not only his language but also his seemingly unclear medical disclosures, revealing the depth of skepticism about his mental fitness. Jon Stewart led the charge, particularly highlighting Trump's use of an ableist slur to describe Minnesota’s governor, Tim Walz. Over the weekend, Trump posted on Truth Social that Walz, who ran against him last year as Kamala Harris’s running mate, was “seriously retarded.”

Stewart’s immediate reaction was sharp and punchy: “On Thanksgiving?! Are you confusing that with Festivus?” he quipped on his show, referencing the popular holiday episode of 'Seinfeld' known for its satire of dysfunctional family gatherings.

When questioned later about his careless remark, Trump doubled down, claiming Walz was “seriously wrong” about his leadership. Stewart was outraged: “You were surrounded by loved ones over Thanksgiving, enjoying a feast with family, and your first instinct was to insult a political opponent with a hateful slur? And you think there’s something wrong with him?” he asked rhetorically.

Adding to the mockery, Stewart pointed out the spectacle of the press corps having to sit through a weekend at Mar-a-Lago listening to Trump's ramblings and then flying back with him, presumably trying to coax some clarity out of his incoherent statements.

Of particular interest is Trump's recent attempt to address growing concerns about his mental and physical health, especially after the revelation of an MRI scan conducted in October. Trump claimed he had “no idea” which part of his body was scanned during this exam—an assertion that sets off alarm bells, as Stewart quite rightly notes: “That’s not physically possible.”

Stewart speculated humorously about how Trump might react if a doctor told him the MRI revealed something unexpected: “Would he say, ‘No, no, don’t tell me! I want to know at my MRI reveal party!’” He mocked the idea that Trump wasn’t curious about what the scan showed, suggesting he might have thought it was just some loud tanning bed.

Trump also boasted about scoring a “perfect score” on his MRI, a statement Stewart quipped by joking that MRI scores are just stamped “Perfect” or marked “See me,” poking fun at Trump's tendency to inflate his accomplishments.

Stephen Colbert added his voice to the chorus, criticizing Trump’s treatment of his former supporters. Citing a recent interview, Colbert joked that some supporters now feel like Trump treats them like “meat animals,” humorously implying the president’s penchant for lavishly spending on a ballroom—that, in Colbert’s satirical view, is designed to serve ‘the poor,’ who are supposedly ‘delicious.’

Colbert also took aim at Trump’s recent Thanksgiving rant on Truth Social, which was filled with racist and ableist language, attacking Minnesota’s immigration policies and calling Walz—again—alluding to his health with unsubstantiated claims. Walz responded sarcastically, demanding Trump “release the MRI results,” to prove his claims. Trump promised to do so but, again, admitted he was unsure of what body part had been scanned.

Colbert’s sharp commentary highlights the absurdity of Trump’s claims: “Maybe the broken part is the one that’s supposed to know.” He pointed out how the White House quickly tried to justify Trump’s bizarre statement—a common pattern—and cited a doctor’s letter claiming the MRI was for cardiovascular and abdominal health, adding sarcastically, “Men in his age group benefit from retiring, so why not write that prescription next?”

Jimmy Kimmel also didn’t hold back, mocking Trump for using an ableist slur and questioning his supposed “presidential” behavior, joking about why Trump never received a Nobel Peace Prize, given his “perfect” public persona.

Kimmel further criticized Trump’s claim that his approval ratings are at an all-time high, pointing out the reality: with a disapproval rate of around 60%, his ratings are among the worst in recent history—yelp reviews at gas stations are more favorable.

He also lampooned Trump’s support for pardoning Juan Orlando Hernández, the former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking. Kimmel pointed out the stark hypocrisy: Trump has historically been aggressive against drug traffickers, yet here he was defending a man who sent over a million pounds of cocaine into the U.S., calling critics “haters and losers” and joking that, during his campaign, his top priorities were “pardoning drug kingpins and building ballrooms”—a revealing satire of Trump’s priorities.

And this is the part most people miss: Trump’s theatrics and bizarre claims continue to shape public discourse, but are they just political spectacle—or signs of deeper issues? How much trust can we place in a leader who openly admits ignorance about his own medical scans and uses harmful language so casually? The controversy persists, and your opinion matters—do you believe his claims are genuine, or are they deliberate attempts at misinformation? Drop your thoughts below and join the conversation!
