Get ready for a wild ride as Jordan Peele's latest documentary, 'High Horse: The Black Cowboy', is set to premiere on Peacock, shedding light on a hidden chapter of American history!
The Untold Story of Black Cowboys
Peacock has announced that on November 20th, viewers will be treated to Peele's captivating exploration of the often-overlooked narrative of Black cowboys. Inspired by his film 'Nope', this three-part documentary promises to challenge and reshape our understanding of the Wild West.
Dismantling the Whitewashed Myth
Produced by Peele's own Monkeypaw Productions, 'High Horse' aims to deconstruct the traditional, predominantly white portrayal of cowboys. As Peele puts it, "I'm grateful to Monkeypaw for amplifying the powerful voices and rich culture of Black Cowboys and Cowgirls. Their story is an integral part of our nation's history, and this project celebrates their enduring legacy."
The logline for the documentary reveals its ambitious scope: "Confronting and reclaiming the Wild West, this documentary unveils the untold story of the Black cowboy, a history that has largely remained hidden."
A Star-Studded Lineup
The documentary features exclusive interviews with an impressive roster of celebrities and experts, including Oscar winner Jordan Peele himself, as well as Bun B, Blanco Brown, Pam Grier, Lori Harvey, and many more. The score is composed by none other than Raphael Saadiq.
Executive Producers and Collaborators
Peele executive produced the documentary alongside Win Rosenfeld, Keisha Senter, and Jamal Watson from Monkeypaw Productions, along with Mari Keiko Gonzalez, Liz Yale Marsh, Kadine Anckle, Tom Casciato, Sacha Jenkins, and Keith McQuirter. 'High Horse: The Black Cowboy' is a collaborative effort between Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group.
And here's where it gets controversial... With the release of the first trailer, viewers are already buzzing with anticipation. But will this documentary live up to the hype? And will it spark a much-needed conversation about the diverse narratives that shape our understanding of history?
