Recently, designer Manish Malhotra, a close friend of Rekha, shared some intriguing insights. He revealed that he considered her for a cameo in his production, 'Gustaakh Ishq,' which stars Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Naseeruddin Shah. However, the role was deemed too small for the legendary actress.
During a conversation with News18 Showsha, Vijay Varma shared an interesting detail. "In fact, for one of the roles in Gustaakh Ishq, Manish wanted to call Rekha ji," he said. Director Vibhu Puri agreed, explaining that while the role was significant, it wasn't substantial enough for Rekha. Both Manish and Rekha share a close bond, and Manish was keen on casting her.
But here's where it gets interesting... Despite not being in 'Gustaakh Ishq,' Manish is still determined to collaborate with Rekha in a film he produces. He stated, "I would love for Rekha ji to work in a film produced by me. When the right script comes, she would love to do a role in it. It has to be a part that challenges her." He added that he is actively searching for the perfect script.
Adding to the anticipation, Vijay Varma mentioned that Rekha herself expressed her desire to work. "She told me once, ‘Hum log saath mein kab kaam karenge, Vijay?’ She asked me about the films I’m doing and told me that I should recommend her name to my directors," he revealed.
