The Oskamp Mansion, a majestic 1896 landmark on Harrison Avenue in Westwood, has found a new owner with big plans. Local entrepreneur and brewery owner David Berger has acquired this historic estate, along with two large adjoining structures, for a potential redevelopment project.
The Oskamp Mansion, spanning approximately 8,000 square feet, has been a prominent feature of the neighborhood. Berger envisions transforming it into a new purpose, while the rear structures, built in the 1960s and 1990s, offer a combined 81,000 square feet of space. This acquisition presents an exciting opportunity to revitalize a significant part of the West Side.
But here's where it gets intriguing. The mansion has been used as administrative office space for a senior housing facility and care center. Berger's plans for the estate remain under wraps, leaving room for speculation. Will it become a luxury residential complex, a boutique hotel, or something entirely different? The potential for this historic site is vast, and the community eagerly awaits the outcome.
