It's always heartbreaking to hear of someone passing, especially when they're surrounded by loved ones after a battle with illness. Today, we remember Elaine Russell (née King) of Navan, Meath, who passed away peacefully at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan.
Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy, and her parents, Paddy and Moira. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her son, Keith; her daughter-in-law, June; and her cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Caitlin, and Eoin. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers and sisters, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives, and friends. It's clear she was surrounded by people who cared for her deeply.

Family, friends, and the community are invited to pay their respects. Elaine will be reposing at St. Joseph’s Chapel of Rest, Old Johnstown (location code C15 C425), on Monday, November 17th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This provides an opportunity for those who knew her to gather and share memories. The Funeral Mass will be held at The Church of the Nativity of Our Lady, Johnstown (location code C15 H320 - you can find it easily on Google Maps). The service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Following the Mass, the burial will take place at Old Kilcarn Cemetery, Johnstown.
The family has requested that their home remain private during this time of mourning. This is a common request, allowing them space and privacy to grieve their loss.
And this is the part most people miss... While funeral notices are very standardised, they are crucial way to inform a community. They provide important information, but also act as a simple reminder of the importance of community and support during times of loss. It's an old tradition, but one that maintains importance even in our digital age.
